Hi Everyone,
I created this document in Beta. I have created a Precalculus course on Doenet and was trying to figure out how to import my activity I created on beta.doenet.org but I can’t seem to get them to communicate. So I copied the code, but as you can see from the image, the ShortDescription is a problem and also the was a problem (I removed them). Any help is appreciated. I am very good with LaTeX code, but not HTML.
The legacy doenet.org uses version 0.6 of DoenetML while beta.doenet.org uses the new version 0.7. While we have a conversion script to upgrade from 0.6 to 0.7, we don’t have any downgrade scripts to go the other direction!
The <shortDescription> is a new component added to meet accessibility guidelines. It does not exist on version 0.6.
If you are going to create a problem on beta.doenet.org for legacy doenet.org, I recommend clicking on Settings and changing the version to 0.6. Then, it should work on legacy doenet.org when you copy it over.
For this example, you’ll definitely need to delete all the <shortDescription> tags.
There does not seem to be a way to change it to 0.6 under settings. I created a new activity, assign number of attempts, assignment type, etc, but I don’t see how to change the setting to 0.6
The Version section of the settings is hidden all the way at the bottom of the settings dialog.
Got it! Thank you. I would have bet my life it didn’t show up when I scrolled down the first time.
I use Doenet within PreTeXt books almost exclusively, so I really don’t know the answer to this. What reason is there to use legacy doenet for class codes and activities? Does beta.doenet.org not have the same functionality?
Legacy doenet.org has more sophisticated class features (that we are not planning to port to beta.doenet.org). We decided we wanted to get out of the business of trying to build a full-fledged LMS to concentrate more on the DoenetML language and building a content repository. (We just have the class code “assignment light” in beta.doenet.org at this point.)
Will we still have the ability to grade work that students have submitted if the LMS is not being ported? That is a nice feature since I don’t know of any other way to track progress.
There is currently a basic gradebook on beta.doenet.org that stores students grades for each assignment and has the ability to export via CSV.
We still have not decided exactly what the offerings will be on beta.doenet.org. We’re trying to get out of the business of storing PII (personally identifiable information), at least for free.
We’re hoping to delegate a fuller LMS experience to other projects. Currently, if you put Doenet in a PreTeXt book and serve it on Runestone, you can use that approach to have a gradebook. We are investigating other integrations.
