Keyboard Shortcuts Stop Working in Editor?

There have been a few times where my regular keyboard shortcuts have stopped working in the editor. Usually a refresh of the page fixes it, but this is quite annoying because I lose my place in my code. I’m on a Mac using Safari

Some examples of keyboard shortcuts that have intermittently stopped working for me

  • command+F (still works for the webpage but not in the text editor)
  • command+/
  • command +[

Is this a browser issue, cache issue, or something else entirely?

I have not encountered this bug before. All those shortcuts are not Doenet specific but come from the packages we are using. It would seem like something crashed in the browser causing it to stop functioning properly.

Do you know how to open the Javascript console on your browser? A web search indicates that you’d have to enable developer features first. If that’s something you’d be comfortable doing, you could open the Javascript console when this happens next and see if there are any messages there that you could report back.

I am a creature of Safari but I use Chrome just for Doenet now. Too many of those little things bothered me to where switching to Chrome for Doenet alone was a lot easier. Also, one needs to click somewhere within the editor itself for the search to work. If you click on the view side, the page gets searched, not your markup.

I was clicking in the editor (not view) when command + f stopped working. It was also the same time that command + / and other shortcuts stopped responding. I think auto-complete with $ was having issues as well.

I’ll try chrome instead.
