As I wrote in this thread I have been in the habit of using sectionWideCheckWork liberally when I want the units to appear right next to the answer box instead of after a CheckWork box.
But I did this as part of an optional hint, so I wanted the weight to be 0 in case students didn’t need the hint
<div sectionWideCheckWork colorAnswersSeparately>
<p>
What temperature corresponds to <m>65</m> chirps per minute?
<answer weight="0">
<shortDescription>temperature at 65 chirps per minute</shortDescription>56.25
</answer><m>^\circ F</m>
</p>
<p>
What temperature corresponds to <m>75</m> chirps per minute?
<answer weight="0">
<shortDescription>temperature at 75 chirps per minute</shortDescription>58.75
</answer><m>^\circ F</m>
</p>
</div>
And the Check Work button shows correct every time even when the individual answers are wrong, or even blank. The answer boxes are red, but the Check Work is green and says Correct, and that seemed to override the red outline in students’ minds when they looked at it. Perhaps that’s the desired behavior but it was unexpected to me!
I can get almost what I wanted with
<p>
<mathInput name="tempatchirps65" forAnswer="$hintanswer">
<label>What temperature corresponds to <m>65</m> chirps per minute?</label>
</mathInput><m>^\circ F</m>
</p>
<p>
<mathInput name="tempatchirps75" forAnswer="$hintanswer">
<label>What temperature corresponds to <m>75</m> chirps per minute?</label>
</mathInput><m>^\circ F</m>
</p>
<answer name="hintanswer" weight="0" matchPartial>
<award><when>$tempatchirps65=56.25 and $tempatchirps75 = 58.75</when></award>
</answer>
instead, but the individual answer boxes are gold when the score is 50% instead of showing which one is right or wrong. Still, for an optional hint, I’m probably okay with that.
